Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Violence broke out inside the West Bengal Assembly on Monday during a session, resulting in serious injuries to multiple MLAs. According to officials, one legislator suffered a broken arm while another was seen bleeding from the hand after a physical altercation erupted between members of the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP.
The clash occurred within the Assembly premises and quickly escalated, prompting intervention by security personnel and marshals to separate the lawmakers. Tension spread through the House as the situation turned chaotic, forcing a brief halt in proceedings. Medical teams were immediately deployed, and the injured legislators were given prompt treatment.
Following the incident, the Assembly complex was placed under heightened security. Police officials confirmed that CCTV footage from inside the Assembly is being examined to identify those involved and determine how the violence began. Officials stated that all angles are being investigated to establish accountability.
Both the Trinamool Congress and the BJP issued statements accusing each other of instigating the violence. While BJP leaders claimed that the government used force to suppress opposition voices, TMC representatives alleged that the opposition deliberately provoked the situation. No official police complaint had been registered at the time of reporting, and investigations were ongoing.
